We are a working jewellers carrying out commission and bespoke work here in Stoke Newington and in 2015 we celebrated our 20th creative year serving the community and being a fully integrated cog in the wheel of London lifestyle.

We mostly work by hand in the time honoured tradition of the trade and primarily in silver and gold but also replicate shape or form of natural objects by the lost wax casting process.

 

Rings, bracelets, bangles, earrings, cuffs, chains and more..the individual idea has no limits or boundaries.

Metal Crumble Workshop and Showroom

Having spent many years honing his craft in the workshops of Nepal, Egypt, Thailand and beyond, silversmith Roger Taylor opened Metal Crumble in 1995 as both a showroom where people could browse his work or discuss ideas in a relaxed atmosphere, and as a workshop to design and create his jewellery.

When he's not working on commissions or making adjustments Roger ensures that the showroom is always kept stocked with beautiful and original hand-made pieces.

We work primarily in gold and solid silver, and we source our own semi-precious gemstones. including hand picked amber from the Baltics. There is always have a large stock of unique hand-made pieces on display and we can usually make any adjustments while you're still in the shop.

Feel free to pop in for a browse or a chat, we're open from 10 till 6 every day except Sunday.

We work with you to design the jewellery you want.

Conception

The idea has to be first and that is you. Make an appointment with us. Bring your photograph,drawing or design. We just need that first seed, then we can grow it for you.

Method

Our workshop is our hub and our years our tool just as much as saws,pliers,torches and mills. Be it a gold engagement ring or a plain silver band all receive the same unfailing attention, we are capable indeed.

Fittings and Furnishings

Your piece is made but not finished,it may still need the stone set,may simply need that final high polish,or even quite the opposite..may need to be planished,matted,or even distressed. But,its a long way down the road,we may need you to come in for final sizing to check textures? Oxidised, bright? You are part of this too.

The Finishing Line

We are there, all the stages are completed, fruition. Your finger, neck, wrist or ears..adorned. You wear a piece of handmade jewellery. Last but not least - Bear in mind. It takes time to do a job well.
